About this blog: Being the wandering thoughts of a gentlewoman of Hybla Valley…

Where are you going?

Upon the advice of my son-in-law and with the wholehearted encouragement of my dear husband, I am beginning a blog. My SIL thinks my baseball opinions are worth reading. My husband thinks I’m a brilliant writer. My younger daughter eagerly awaits my cataloguing of dystopian literature. I will be lucky if the older daughter reads it.

If you poke your nose in here from time to time you’ll see that my thoughts stray hither and yon, but everyone should have a hobby and I have several. There’s the aforementioned review of a century of dystopian literature. There’s the individual review of natural history museums that I have visited. I’m very fond of quilting. And then there’s the Passing Scene.

You may notice that the dates on entries don’t necessarily follow chronological order. That’s because the date reflects when the body of the text was originally written, but was held for publication until it was suitably researched or proofread or just plain considered and reconsidered by the author.

For now, I’m leaving the comments section intact, but I’ll warn you: I’m not going to put up with trolls and nonsense.  Of course, that would presuppose that this blog would become so widely read as to garner the notice of trolls. Pretty unlikely. But you never know. So, just be aware that I’ll summarily block anyone who commits nonsense to paper, uh, electrons.  And if I find I have to spend actual time being a traffic cop on my own blog, I’ll just cease with the comments altogether.

But you’re all reasonable, well-behaved folk, so we won’t have to worry about that, will we?
